Trench Coat Trends for Cool Winter Style
There may not be frost on the ground in my city, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great time to shop for an updated version of a wardrobe classic: the trench coat. Here are a few of my favorite picks that align with current trends that may have you considering something beyond the khaki traditional:
Patent Leather (image, top):
This glam trend is still big. I like it even better in a bold color like this blue version (top) for an unexpectedly modern winter color. Gorgeous.
Military Look:
Fall and winter are such great seasons for deep greens like this one. Did you know that the definition of a trench coat is a long coat that’s belted? Belts can keep the chill out and help define a waistline but this one is handsome belted or left open as a swing coat. A walk in the forest anyone?
Classic Checks:
A beloved micro geometric like checks or herringbone will always be a go-to for any traditional look like this gray one. Add a patent leather heel in red with a bold lip and you’ve got a very modern look.
Contrast Stitching:
Another very classic and tailored trend is contrast stitching. I love the subtle linear detailing it makes on this black trench.
Suede:
A soft, relaxed trench coat like this one will be that forever friend that gives you a lift even on the most cloudy of days and perhaps make you feel a bit like a rock star (Linda McCartney vibes for me)…
French Girl Style:
I’m a sucker for a chic Parisian look that this navy trench combined with a striped tee and white pants does oh so fantastique.
Do you own a trench coat? What do you love about yours?
