Pink + Terracotta: The Power Couple Color Trend with Staying Power
Color trends come and go, so it’s hard to make a commitment to a color palette for your home when there’s so much time and investment involved. One of the trends that emerged recently was a return to warmth with the radiant combo of pink and terracotta. While some color combos come and go in design, I’d like to think this one will stick around for a while for its pleasing play on both masculine and feminine. Think Jennifer Lopez and A-Rod—I’m pretty hopeful they’re a forever love match too!
Check out the latest creation by celebrity interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel (image above). A masterful marriage of this color trend duo for this sunny rustic/elegant bedroom.
Additional pairings of terracotta and pink can be seen in the examples above and below. A multitude of wood tones work beautifully with these colors, creating an overall palette of warmth that invites the layering of rich textures as well.
These colors don’t have to remain in the bedroom. It’s a great choice if you’re looking to add some zip to a classic living room (above) or an unexpected twist on something more midcentury (below).
Accessories can be a great way to introduce this palette into your home as well, whether decorative objects like vases, rugs, or even a graphic screen:
Now that spring is around the corner, I’m game to try a bit of terracotta and pink outside, aren’t you? After all, there are already several clay pots laying around, so why not toss in some rosy pillows and tile, and maybe a statement wall and daybed?
See you in the garden!
