7 Cool Things--The Roundup
Today is the birthday of photographer Dorothea Lange (seen with camera in hand above). She's known for her moving photos of Depression-era mothers and children. Do you remember your first camera? Mine was a Polaroid (which for a ten-year-old was like magic!). Check out what I found in that regard and some of the other great finds of the week:
- A $100.5 million-dollar auction record was set at Sotheby's in the category of American Postwar/Contemporary art for a painting by Basquiat, a former graffiti artist who now holds the top position for creating the most expensive American artwork ever sold.
- For a more affordable, but perhaps not as enduring form of art, check out these marvelous reproductions of famous paintings such as Van Gogh's painting, Starry Night, by Korean barista Kangbin Lee. So long hearts in our latte foam--so yesterday...
- The Italian government is giving away castles! No summer plans? Let's snag one ASAP and experience our own version of Under the Tuscan Sun or Enchanted April.
- The hats at Pippa Middleton's wedding! I think the ladies at last week's Kentucky Derby were outdone...
- My new relaxed blazer is so great for work or play.
- Crazy discounts are everywhere this Memorial Day Weekend if you're looking to change up your home or office. Dreaming of this cobalt blue rug in a tile pattern...
