For the Love of Espadrilles

For the Love of Espadrilles

This week marks our first heatwave here in L.A. Popsicles have been loaded in the freezer and it's time to start shopping for that summer classic--espadrilles! The colorful pair above from Anthropologie with the boho tassels and braided details already are transporting me to distant exotic lands in the vacation in my mind's eye. (Perhaps some of you are familiar with the hypnotic power of shoe shopping in this regard...)

A classic nautical stripe like this pair from Nordstrom is always a great choice--whether for a walk along a seaside boardwalk or a stroll in a museum followed by lunch.

Sunny days require shoes that are equally bright. This option from J. Crew just might do the trick.

These slip-ons with their woven jute platform soles would complement any summer glass of sangria...salut!

The dominant espadrille brand here in the U.S. is Soludos. They even have a variety of options for men with lots of crossover appeal. I'm picturing Cary Grant sporting these in Hitchcock's thriller set along the French Riviera, To Catch a Thief.

For an authentic pair made in the birthplace of the espadrille--Spain--Diegos is a company that also caters to both men and women. How versatile would these all leather ones be? What's your go-to shoe for summer? Leave a comment below.
